A fantastic drill for putting players under pressure in transition.
Drill Description:
* Play is across the field, in the centre third, from sideline to sideline.
* Split group into two teams (e.g. red group and white group).
* Set up 3 red lines and 3 white lines on both sidelines.
* Drill starts with a ball tossed into the air or rolled on the ground into the middle.
* 3 pairs of players from one sideline fight for possession. The team that wins the ball is on attack.
* Attacking team must make 3 consecutive passes as they move across the field (count out loud!)
* Count restarts if the ball is dropped or hits the ground.
* If 3 consecutive passes are made, attacking team pass to the same colour team on the opposite side who will then continue the drill.
* If a mistake is made or the ball is turned over, the other team will transition and look to pass the ball to a teammate on the opposite side. That group of 3 will start the next transition defended by the group of 3 who are with them on that side.
* The aim is to transition the ball as quickly as possible. Set a time limit and see who made the most number of successful transitions.
