Stickwork inside the centre circle

Source:

US Lacrosse

A great warm up drill that focuses on improving stickwork and quick decision-making. Requires players to have their 'eyes up' so they can see open players to pass to as well as anticipate passes coming to them. Simulates game conditions.

Drill Description:

* Set up with players inside centre circle
* Begin with one ball between every two players
* On coach's whistle, players begin moving and passing to teammates inside the centre circle.
* Primary rule is when you receive a ball, you cannot return it to the person who passed it to you.
* If a player does not have the ball, they must cut towards a player with the ball to receive a pass.
* There should be constant movement in this drill.

Variations

Can introduce a stickwork sequence to challenge players' skills and scanning:
- Pass and receive on one side only (dominant/non-dominant)
- Receive right, pass left
- Receive left, pass right
- Pass, receive then dodge another player in the circle. Make pass after the dodge.
- Switch to all groundballs, flip passes, bounce passes, behind the back passes
- Catch with two hands on stick, pass with one hand (left and right)
